/ January 26, 2013Would you have a hotel, or hotel location, recommendation?
The Private Man
/ January 27, 2013Start with the Shore Haven… work outwards from there…. there a loads of small hotels in Lauderdale by the Sea.

/ January 27, 2013Okay. Thanks.

/ January 29, 2013Tim, I’m guessing you (and others) want a basic affordable room, w/out the kitchen & tiny living room, etc… amirite? Sadly, our single biggest source (180 units) of $59 rooms has been in foreclosure limbo for 2+ years… just as well, ’twas gettin’ pretty scuzzy. But you know what happens when supply is squeezed…
Try Dolphin Harbor Inn, (954) 491-6033 … just a block from beach, very central, next door to 7-Eleven, Walgreens, liquor store, rental car place, etc. Ask for Waggoner (the Brazilian owner), he’s there 9-5 EST… later than that and you’re gonna get “the help”, and they probably can’t “deal”.
There’s this place, used to be a HoJo’s: http://www.lauderdalebeachsidehotel.com/
If you’re coming for just 2-3 days, and are not going to venture much beyond our little town of LBTS, you can definitely get by without a car, but… if you’re getting a car anyway, youze can definitely save a bunch by going inland just a mile or two… just remember drawbridge goes up top (:00) and bottom (:30) of every hour, for 3 to 6 minutes–avoid.
e.g. there’s a La Quinta @ 5727 North Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale

Bonus with this LaQ is it serves a nearby language school that teaches English to foreigners, so always an exotic array of younger ladies from Switzerland, Ukraine, Argentina, you name it, staying there.
OTOH, if “price is no object”, we gots PLENTY of that, lol.
Buses run most places you’d want to go, but they tend to knock off early, i.e. 11PM-midnight timeframe, some routes even earlier. Fleet is pretty new, some have WiFi.
